Nurse M - RN

Nurse M has been working with us since 2016. In partnership with Grassroots Community Voice, Nurse Maryse is Love Haiti’s official nurse in Southeast Haiti. She loves working with babies and pregnant mothers, and has three little girls of her own. She commutes to the Southeast from her home (a 7-hour motorcycle ride), and sees around 150 patients every month in the communities of Bel-Air and Cascade Pichon.

Bob - Executive Director

Bob is our guy for everything on the ground in Haiti. He is an architect, engineer, driver, translator, and visionary. Fluent in 3 languages with more than 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector, Bob leads our non-profit in partnership with his Co-Executive Director in the U.S. Bob meets regularly with all of our Haitian community partners to brainstorm development ideas with them for their community. Quite literally none of the development work we do at Love Haiti would be possible without him! With both Bob and Shay working in cooperation with one another, we frequently refer to them each as “Co-Executive Directors.”

Nurse Nat - RN

Nurse Nat helps us with a couple other miscellaneous healthcare projects in Southeast Haiti. She hosts a mobile clinic in the remote community of Baguette with us, and has also helped us respond to other things like child malnutrition crises in Baie d’Orange.

Prinicpal C - Director of Education

Principal C has been Principal of the Cascade Pichon Community School (CPCS) since 2014. He helps run the school, and is also really good at soccer, like really good. Starting in the 2021-2022 school year, we began partnering with and financially supporting Principal C and the other teachers at CPCS in order to keep the school running. If it weren’t for our partnership with CPCS and their 370+ students, the school would have had to close their doors in 2021. We’re so blessed to be able to support the work these teachers are doing in their community!

Shay Foster - Volunteer

Shay has been involved with Love Haiti since its inception in 2015. He holds an MA in International Community Development from Northwest University, loves music, and lives in Kansas City with his wife and fluffy pets.

Cito - Soccer Coordinator

Cito loves soccer, and so do we! So naturally, we’ve asked Cito to help us facilitate our soccer tournaments in Southeast Haiti. We host tournaments every semester in collaboration with 16 schools across the Pichon and Belle-Anse regions of Southeast Haiti, and Cito helps us organize tournament schedules, allocate budgets, and acts as our representative at our tournament matches. Each region plays against teams from their home region throughout the semester, and at the end of each semester (tournament), the champions from both Pichon and Belle-Anse play each other in a championship match!

The Principals of these 16 schools love this partnership we have with them. Athletes on these teams are required to be enrolled in school if they wish to participate, so we end up mutually reinforcing both our emphasis on Education and Recreation through Cito! Cito also speaks 4 languages, is a local entrepreneur, and exhibits a very calm and laid back demeanor with everything he does.

Our Teachers at Cascade Pichon Community School

Through sponsorship partners, we have kept the doors of the Cascade Pichon Community School (CPCS) open since 2021, and have partnered with CPCS since long before that! We cover the cost of running the school, including paying for teacher salaries and materials, so that CPCS can continue to teach the 370+ students that attend classes there. These 9 educators teach K-6th grade, and firmly believe that education is the most crucial cornerstone to developing their community of Cascade Pichon.

Instead of the typical way sponsorship works where a sponsor selects a beneficiary to assist, we actually have our teachers select a sponsor for their class from a pool of sponsors. In doing this, we seek to maximize the autonomy of the teachers and create a genuine relationship between our teachers and sponsors!
